Sheila lives in Albuquerque, NM and works at PNM Resources Inc. as the Director of Operations Technology and PPMO. She loves giving back to our community and currently serves as the Past-President for the UNM alumni Lettermen's Association, Chairwoman for the NM Technology Council, Board of Director for UNM Lobo Club, Kirkland Airforce Honorary commander, FBI Citizens Academy class of 2021. She is also pursing her Executive MBA, UNM Class of 2023. She is married to Matthew Krueger and has two sons, Chris and Alec Clinton.
What is your favorite memory as a college athlete?
“Winning our conference championship in 1988 and attending NCAA Women's Volleyball Tournament twice. In 1990, we made it to the Regional Semifinal (Sweet 16). Can't forget our faithful fans and when the men's swim team arrived at the BYU game dressed as Russian Women Swimmers. We had such a great fan support base."
Advice for those currently in college competing in regards to their sport and/or career?
“While a student-athlete, always remember the importance of leadership and commitment of your sport while balancing the responsibility of education and representing the school with the upmost honor. Seek out opportunities for mentorship to help you better prepare the transition from student-athlete to a career professional. Ask for assistance with setting up informational interviews with professionals in the field/position you are interested in so you can learn more about the position and what it entails.”
What is one piece of advice you would give to your college-athlete self?
“It's great you achieved your goal in earning your degree in 4 years; but stay the one extra year to start you MBA and play your final year with the 1991 volleyball team.”
Why are you a member of the UNM Alumni Lettermen's Association and what do you hope to get as a member?
”I want to continue to connect with former letterman and get to know the current student-athletes. It brings me much joy when I have an opportunity to mentor a student-athlete.”
