LOBO CLUB HOSTS
RECORD BREAKING FUNDRAISING EVENT

Albuquerque, NM – The University of New Mexico Lobo Club played host to its annual Cherry & Silver Scholarship Gala this past Saturday, August 18, at the Hyatt Regency Albuquerque. This year’s Gala was one of the highest grossing fundraisers that the Lobo Club has ever put on, bringing in a gross revenue of just over $200,000. A highlight of the night’s revenues included the fund-a-need auction, dedicated to funding student-athlete health and wellness, which brought in a record-breaking total of $50,000 within the course of just a few minutes.

"It was inspiring to see the incredible support shown for our student-athletes,” UNM Director of Athletics Eddie Nuñez said. “It was a great event that will give us momentum going into what promises to be a great year for Lobo Athletics."

The Cherry & Silver Scholarship Gala, which featured both a silent and live auction, is an event to bring together the Lobo community and kick off the new school year with the main goal of supporting student-athlete scholarships at UNM. The Gala hosted over 420 people in person at the Hyatt Regency Albuquerque, while multiple others bid at home on their smartphones. The silent auction consisted of nearly 200 unique packages and items, including a 55” TV, vacations, and signed memorabilia. The live auction included nine items and the fund-a-need portion. Examples of live auction items included a private villa for eight in Costa Rica, a trip for two to the 2019 U.S. Open, and many more unique trips and experiences.

If you were unable to attend this year’s Cherry & Silver Scholarship Gala, be sure to join us next year around this time for another excellent fundraising event to benefit UNM student-athlete scholarships.
